New Vacancy - eCommerce Analyst - Head Office, Guildford


This is a key role within the team, taking ownership of eCommerce reporting and a range of analytical tools, as well as using collated data and research to form a clear idea of how users interact with the four websites: Cotswold Outdoor, Snow and Rock, Runners Need and Cycle Surgery. You’ll work with the wider eCommerce team and third parties to provide reporting, deliver tests and provide a framework to measure results, provide actionable insights to deliver improvements to KPIs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of eCommerce reporting and analytical tools, creating and distributing weekly reporting. Use these reports to analyse website key performance indicators, and report your findings and recommendations
  • Drive analysis of all areas of the website, providing reporting and recommendations to the eCommerce management team
  • Analysing online promotions, marketing campaigns, landing pages and product detail and other key pages to deliver performance summaries, meaningful insights and actionable recommendations
  • Incorporate findings from surveys, reviews, testing and other data sources into reports, to inform your recommendations
  • Conduct competitor analysis and feedback to the wider team on a regular basis
  • Ensure a clear understanding of overall company performance to put online performance into context and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Provide ad hoc support to the eCommerce Merchandising team

You will be work with:

  • eCommerce Merchandisers to provide adhoc reporting
  • Colleagues within the eCommerce team for sharing of information
  • Work with teams around the business to ensure access to data, including Digital Marketing, Brand Marketing, CRM, Customer Services and Buying and Merchandising teams
  • Liaison with third party service and software providers, as required

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Create and maintain a weekly reporting suite, using available data sources. e.g. transactional data, website analytics, customer reviews and feedback, survey responses, competitive market data
  •  Delivering updated reports, analysis and insight to the eCommerce team and wider business to meet deadlines e.g. 4-weekly category reviews, monthly content reports, campaign performance analysis
  • Using your analytical skills to make recommendations to positively impact website KPIs, such as increasing Conversation Rate, increasing AOV, reducing Bounce Rate
  • Respond to ad hoc queries regarding eCommerce performance in a timely manner. Using your inquisitive nature to investigate and determine causes and recommend measurable actions where appropriate.

Knowledge, skills and qualifications required:

  • This role would suit a graduate, preferably with 1+ year of data analysis, marketing, or eCommerce experience
  • Knowledge of reporting using a website analytics tool, such as Google Analytics
  • An awareness of online KPIs and how they can be used to improve the customer experience and commercial objectives
  • An understanding of the outdoor industry would be an advantage
  • Understanding of the impact of design and layout on user experience
  • Excellent MS Excel knowledge
  • Awareness of online marketing channels used to drive traffic to websites
  • An understanding of the role of using A/B and Multivariate Testing to improve eCommerce conversion rates
  • Experience working within an eCommerce retail environment
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills, and an outstanding attention to detail
  • Experience managing time and workload under pressure, and within tight deadlines
  • Experience using a website analytics tool (such as Google Analytics)
  • Interpreting and reporting using data, preferably from multiple sources
  • Good commercial awareness, to prioritise the opportunities for improvement available
  • Experience undertaking qualitative and quantitative user testing or user research
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with experience influencing others
