A fully featured but lightweight trail pack, the Talon 18 Rucksack is perfectly suited to a day on the hill when you don't need too much back-up kit. Incredibly comfortable on the back and stable as you cover uneven terrain, you'll really appreciate Osprey's superb attention to detail.
The AirScape back panel has foam ridges that fit to the contours of your body, keeping the load close and aiding your stability. Air chimneys run through the foam, letting air circulate around your back to keep you cool.
The BioStretch harness and hipbelt are shaped to provide comfortable contact with your body and they work with the back panel to reduce the movement of the pack when you are moving fast. The single ErgoPull waistbelt simplifies the attachment of the hipbelt.
With the Stow-on-the-Go feature, you can quickly and easily attach and release your trekking poles without having to take the pack off your back or stretch uncomfortably, and the LidLock feature lets you secure a helmet to the pack. An external hydration sleeve means that the precious contents of your pack won't get sodden if your hydration bladder bursts.
When it comes to high-energy pursuits the Talon 18 won't disappoint, after-all it's designed to cling to your back like a frightened monkey. The AirScape wings that wrap around the pack to compress your load tightly, great for when walk becomes run. Back panel and die-cut foam hipbelt and harness keeps your load under close control but allows ventilation to run free. The zipped pockets on each side of the hipbelt allow quick and easy access to smaller items like phone, powerbar, GPS etc. The single buckle lid closure means rapid access and great load compression from the top. On top of the lid you will find another conveniently placed pocket, ideal for gloves, hat, map etc. The side compressors keep can run either under or over the stretch powermesh side pockets. Keeping hydrated during activity is essential and re-filling your hydration reservoir has been made easy with the quick access external hydration sleeve. The unique Stow-on-the-Go system means no more pack "on and off" to store your trekking poles, just simply pass the poles through the two elasticated loops for an easy hands-free solution. The reflective Talon keep you visible to headtorch or vehicles if moving in low light conditions.

Trail Running Mag Review:
Using the Osprey PackSizer App, this is the most comfy and stable pack on test. Rated at 18 litres it seems a lot bigger when packing and, with a drawcord and flap closure, you can really stuff it and stow kit under the flap. Side mesh bottle-pockets, zipped waist ones, bladder compatibility and shock-cords increase versatility.
Verdict - A little heavy but great if comfort is your priority. 8/10
