We are pleased to announce our 12th Runners Need central London store on Upper Thames Street in the City of London.

The 3,767 square foot location houses Cycle Surgery and is located just off Southwark Bridge Road, a bustling commuter zone into the heart of London. The positioning couldn't be better - taking a front row seat at many high profile races including the London Marathon and the London Triathlon.

The prime city centre location is a thriving hub for city dwellers and commuters alike, offering a premium specialist retail experience, a wide range of products and the best running and cycling expertise under one roof.

The latest Runners Need store was launched in partnership with Nike, following a successful venture at our Spitalfields store. The premium retail platform is central to customers' overall shopping experience from the moment they enter the store, and showcase the latest season's running footwear and apparel trends to hit the UK. An integral part of the service offering is the launch of a Nike+ Run Club, established around the successful Nike+ run community.

In addition to Nike, Upper Thames Street also features a wide selection of men's and women's technical running clothing, footwear and accessories from leading running brands, including Nike, Brooks, Asics, Adidas, Gore, 2XU and Saucony.

The store also offers video gait analysis technology to analyse customers' running action and recommend appropriate running footwear, along with unrivalled levels of expertise, and service from staff that know and understand running.

Meet the Team

Phil Dickens - Head of Sales

How long have you worked at Runners Need?
One year
Tell us about yourself
I took up running properly about the ten years ago and became addicted. It's a healthy addiction and I have made so many friends through working in various run stores, and being a member of clubs in different cities in the UK, Canada and New Zealand. I currently run for Cambridge Harriers in south-east London. I will take any opportunity I can get to run a race overseas as it feels like a great way to get around and explore. My favourite race so far would be the Kananaskis 100 mile relay in the Canadian Rockies, Alberta. The setting for that race was amazing. There are not many sports I am not interested in, really. I am a Nottingham Forest fan, I like to go watch Welling United and I am currently playing in an indoor cricket league.
What are your favourite shoes to run in and why?
I always have a few pairs of shoes on the go. I currently train in a pair of Nike Zoom Structure, and a pair of Saucony Omni. I have had quite a few pairs of Brooks GTS Adrenaline - they are a light shoe for the amount of support it offers. For racing and speed workouts I like the Adidas Adizero Adios and the Saucony Fastwitch.
How often do you go running?
Six days a week.
Have you taken part in any marathons, challenges or races?
I have been running marathons every year since I got into running. That is my favourite distance. The law of diminishing returns means new PBs are a real challenge now, but I'd love to lose another six and half minutes from my time yet.
Are you taking part in any events this year?
At the moment I am training for the Brighton 10k, the Turkey Trot Half Marathon in Nottingham and the Barcelona Marathon in March.
What's your favourite music to run to?
I prefer the sport on Radio 5 Live for longer runs.
Do you have any relevant certificates or qualifications?
I am a UK Athletics Endurance Level 2 Coach and I have previously worked as Personal trainer specializing.
