SMART WATCHES AND WIRELESS HEADPHONES GUIDE

GPS watches are a great tool to help with your running training. The technology is constantly evolving, and recently GPS smart watches that can store music have become popular. These watches store music on the watch, and then the music can be listened to using wireless headphones.

GPS Watches

GPS watches are very useful for running. They can track pace, distance, heart rate, calories burnt and lots of other features. One of the most recent updates to GPS watches is the inclusion of music technology. This means that users can store music on their watches, and then listen to their stored music through wireless headphones when running. On some models, there is also the option to stream music through WiFi. Playlists can be created through streaming services such as Spotify, and libraries such as Apple Music. Although the use of music will reduce the battery life of the device, it enables hands and phone free running whilst still being able to listen to all your favourite music.

One of the best GPS watches that is music enabled on the market is the Garmin Forerunner 245 music. This watch has all the usual Garmin features, such as pace, distance, time, and also has additions like Training Status, VO2 max readings, and can be paired with the Garmin Coach app where training plans can be accessed. Safety and tracking features are also present, as well as smart notifications.

As well as all this, you can also listen to your own music through the watch by pairing it with selected streaming services and store up to 500 songs on the watch for phone-free running.

Wireless Headphones

Wireless headphones are extremely useful for any type of workout; from runs to gym sessions. There are no wires to limit movement or get caught on anything, leaving you free to concentrate on what you're doing. Garmin recommend certain types of headphones which are compatible with their new Forerunner 245 Music watches. These include Aftershokz Trekz Air and Plantronics BackBeat FIT 3100. These have been selected based on their Bluetooth performance with the watch.
